I recommend Gabriel Rockhill’s “Who Paid the Pipers of Western Marxism?” .
Its a book every modern leftist should read.

In the book Rockhill detailed how the US Office of strategic services and the CIA along with NED that succeeded it fostered anti-Soviet leftists that refused dialectical materialism and actually existing Socialism to counter the influence of socialist revolutions, particularly in post WWII Europe and North America.

Reading it leads one to understand how does this kind of anti-intellectualism and anti-reality thinking became the dominant Zeitgeist in the Western world.

I’d love to write a proper review about this book, but I don’t feel qualified enough to parse and examine the absolute wealth of information Rockhill presents here regarding the intellectual history, or undermining of it, in the entire 20th century, as the capitalist empires of Europe and America had feared the potential of a working class uprising since even before the founding of the Soviet Union.
