Yeah that’s the case with me here too. I’m pretty outspokenly against generative AI, which is really funny, because during the latter half of 201X I was super into machine learning. Honestly I still am, it’s not machine learning itself I have a problem with, it’s the way the corporations are applying and marketing it.
As for the others, I genuinely don’t know. Don’t think I’ve interacted with or seen the other communities. It’s not my kind of thing. Hahaha.

I saw that on my .world account I got suspended for imperialism, when my comment was criticising the U.S. for supporting another nation’s imperialistic tendencies, as well as their supporting the genocide in Palestine. Because being anti-colonialism is very imperialistic. Ha.
i suspect that the communist influence is the reason why things like tesseract exist – i know for a fact that it’s definitely true of piefed whose creator said as much in an interview.
This makes sense. Communism has been so maligned in the west, because it’s so antithetical to capitalism. I grew up in poverty, in Sweden of all places so it’s not like poverty was as bad as it could have been, but any form of poverty is shit. I’m lucky to be where I am, but I’ll never forget those struggles.
I don’t know enough about communism to call myself one, but it seems obvious to me that workers should be in control of the systems they work with. Most people in the world are workers after all, so it’d benefit the vast majority.
I think the opposition to that is mostly rooted in capitalist fearmongering. The growing anti-capitalist sentiment among people is rather heartening though. I hope one day we could have a world without money, where we all share resources and no one has to worry about justifying their existence.
I am not super familiar with American politicians (I’m in Sweden), but I did hear about Graham Platner. More specifically about how he’d been accused of being physically and sexually abusive, but the sources on that withdrew their statements, save for a conservative woman.
That conservative woman then got dog-piled by supposedly progressive people, claiming that she was making things up in an attempt to tarnish his reputation or something. They called her really heinous things too.
Naturally it is possible for people to lie about that kind of thing, but I think it’s important to remember that survivors of abuse have for a very long time not been able to speak out because of the stigma against it. I’m personally of the opinion - and I think a lot of people hold the same beliefs - that you listen to people who speak up. It doesn’t mean that you have to like, drag the accused over burning coals or whatever, but you don’t start smearing the person speaking up because that just perpetuates a culture of silence.
I also don’t really think that having stupid political opinions means that it’s okay for someone to get abused in a relationship. Like there’s a difference between society collectively clobbering nazis, and an individual chipping away at another individual behind closed doors.
There are like eight billion people in the world, I’m positive we can find political representatives that aren’t abusers. I really want to believe that most people are better than that.
I try to not engage too much with such content, really. It’s too stressful, and I’m in a bit of a rough patch in life. Besides, it’s election year here and we have our own nazis in parliament to deal with. Saw the other day that the nazi party has a hot-air balloon of their leader that they fly around as some kind of publicity stunt. Because we all know that healthy democracies are built around cults of personality.
